The Bull's Grief
Screenprint on textile
118x84cm
Moritz works as a printmaker in his private studio in Munich, Germany, creating large format textile screenprints.
The artwork first comes about through digital visualization on the computer and is then ‘brought to life’ through the manual process of screenprinting. The Bull’s Grief shows an alternative ending to the myth of the Minotaur: instead of being strangled by Theseus, he spares the monster. This represents a shift in human nature towards mythological creatures. The beast is spared, but now longs for the world outside the prison, held captive by fear and sorrow. This is represented by the red thread which was once used for
orientation through the Minotaur’s labyrinth.
Moritz most recently exhibited at Munich’s two largest art fairs last year in May (Stroke Art)
and October (ARTMUC). He has also participated in exhibitions in London, including at the
Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2023 and the Bainbridge Open 2025.
