The main theme explored focuses on self-reflection, questioning what is being projected to others and how this relates to her interior world. This spurred her on to create a series of self-portraits where she tried to defamiliarise her own face by experimenting with masking and obscuring through collage, cut-out paper and various print techniques using everyday ephemera. But adding more layers of camouflage only seemed to reveal more about herself, inviting deeper speculation about the uncertainty of what lies behind the mask of the public self.
